A massive thanks to all that came along for the DANSON FESTIVAL
Special thanks to Richard Kay for his massive contribution to the Takraw cause and for providing the UK association with our pitch @ Sports Zone / Danson Festival. A great day enjoyed by all. We look forward to doing it all again.
The event went well, with a lot of interest shown by young and old. The kids loved it and we even saw a few that may be the Takraw champions of the future! Everyone wanted a piece of TAKRAW and many tried it on a mini net. The net we used is actually one of these nets from our shop folded in half and with the bottom touching the ground. A perfect way to ease people into the professional game of Sepak Takraw. I suppose it's also handy for those of us that are a bit too old for bicycle kicks.
We look forward to refining our Takraw Tent and having even more fun and an even better reception next time! We're now pretty kitted out for similar events. People that showed interest were not just members of the public, but Taekwondo teachers, The NHS Trust, and members of the Change for Life team, amongst others. People who were enthusiastic about integrating TAKRAW to their events / training programs were:
We look forward to further communications with these bodies and others to talk Takraw. How can we work together and how it can be included into their programmes etc. Getting involved in our local community is a key part of what we are trying to achieve.
