Spread Takraw

Spread Takraw is a global online campaign founded by the UK Association in order to facilitate the spread of Takraw. As we are UK based some efforts from STUK may be limited to local campaigns (e.g. The Danson Festival in Bexley) but with the Internet behind us much of our work will benefit individuals, clubs and associations around the globe.

Spread Takraw will:

Work with other national and local associations to strengthen this cause
Contact cultural exchange programmes
Contact education authorities (e.g. in England LEAs)
Promote Takraw at festivals, parties and similar events
Reward the best members / participants with Takraw related prizes
Utilise the power of online social networks to Spread Takraw
Seek funding to further the spread of Takraw (e.g. National Lottery Grants)

The deals have been done and most of the results are in. ISTAF and UFA Sports have sold rights to several broadcasters including Eurosport. Sepak Takraw has been broadcast before by channels like ESPN but never before has filming and broadcasting been done on this scale. Add to this the fact that ISTAF has customised the rules to suit a TV audience and you can see why there's a buzz surrounding this upcoming tournament.

Sir Chris supports International Inspiration and Sepak Takraw

Sir Chris Hoy with pupils from Hartford High School

The Sepak Takraw UK Association recently spoke to Julia Harries, a teacher from Hartford High School. We were excited to hear that they had recently adopted Sepak Takraw. So, as you can imagine, we were thrilled to hear that this had come about as part of the International Inspiration programme. Not only that but Sir Chris Hoy would be visiting the school to celebrate the scheme and see the results first hand.
