UEL (University of East London) are the lead University developing Takraw in the UK
The UK Takraw Association plans to continue to work with UEL to establish a University League and increase student and adult participation in the sport. We are putting together training sessions and are looking to establish coaching awards together with Newham council
The Association (STUK) would like to thank UEL for the support, encouragement and hospitality they have given. We would like to give special thanks to the following people for their work in bringing Takraw to UEL.
Chang Min Jung - UK Head Coach
Dave Cosford - UEL's recently appointed Sports Director
Jacqueline Bourne - Student Union Student Activities Organiser
Liam Twomey - Student Union Sports Officer and Captain of the Rugby team
Alex Huelin - Captain of the Football Team
UEL - The first Uni in the UK to accept Takraw and allow it to be a sport there, are continuing with it's support. A Few key players / enthusiasts at the Uni will be captaining and running training sessions, lead / assisted by our Head Coach Chang Min Jung. Chang has seen some promise there and sees no reason why they cannot form a team and compete with other Unis or teams around the UK.
