The birth (history) of Sepak-Raw

In 2007 a good friend of ours returned from his travels around the globe. His backpack contained a small woven rattan ball. This became our new ball for casual kick-abouts in the garden, or over the park. Intrigued as to where this mysterious object came from, the group begun to quiz our travelling friend about the origins of this strange little ball. Fascinated with this seemingly new sport, we proceeded to research the ball and sport on the internet - Discovering it was actually an ancient form of football with strong roots in Asia. Stumbling upon breathtaking photos and videos of the modern, professional sport, we vowed to raise awareness of the sport in this country. Confirming our suspicions that the sport was practically unheard of in the UK we set about bringing together a team to:

• Inform - Educate people about the sport and raise awareness online and other campaigns
• Build a community - That supports UK growth and allows Associations of the world to unite
• Distribute Equipment - Provide Takraw equipment to the UK

Sepak Raw is a team of people with various skills from graphic designers to sports enthusiasts, physiotherapists to web masters, martial artists to game enthusiasts, all sharing the common cause to support the movement of Takraw in the UK.
